Excellent work, loving the varied colour schemes you've come up with for your Daemons (clearly I would paint them 'proper' colours as I have no imagination). Like the insect scheme on the Plague Drones very much!

Was definitely a decision I made early that blood letters were not going to be red.  I had originally intended on doing the tzeench stuff yellow but then a couple of other armies showed up with that so I went with something a bit more traditional.  Nurgle was very nearly purple but decided to just leave them the usual style.  Slannesh as above was a scheme I came up with about 15 years ago!

Thanks, glad you like it.

Right, I've now finished up my army for the tournament at the end of the month, including making up all the movement trays and the likes.  The tournament is meant to be a fun event so people are encouraged to take softer lists than you would usually take to a tournament and encourages people to take the less common choices from the army books.  There were bonus points for various units out the DoC book = Blood throne, Seekers, Exalted chariot and soul grinder.  Of those I don't have any but the seekers and I didn't want to buy anything new (enough to paint as it is) so I'm not actually picking up many bonuses despite them being available.

Something that I chose to do, and it may predate a lot of players experiences of warhammer, was to follow the army selection process from the 4th/5th ed Chaos book.  For them the army selection process was a bit different from the rest.  You first picked a character and then had to have a warband which cost equal or more than their total cost and your army was built up of these warbands and the character choice limited what else you could take from the book (basically same god/type as at this stage WoC, DoC and BoC were the same book).  This was important because it helped put some limitations on the army, ie you couldn't take a Tzeench wizard with Khorne knights in a WoC list, you'd have to have a Khorne character for the knights and a tzeentch reutine for the wizard. Obviously it's changed days now, but still makes for a more enjoyable way of building the list than just picking a few of the best characters and units from the entire selection in the book.

Sounds very similar to how I've organised my Daemons as well - the book still encourages it, I think, even without forcing you to. I'm still crossing my fingers that there's be a return to the old forces of Chaos, even if it's via some kind of allies system.

And I don't care what Matt says - I'm a big fan of that Khorne paint scheme.

Looks great Dave, good luck in the event
