Well maybe not an extravaganza, more live a small party....

But anyway, after a conversation with Ol at Tolworth yesterday, here are some pics of my work in progress halfling army. When finished I will use them as a mainly night goblin army (yes I know how weird this sounds, but have a look!).

The Heroes:

Archers 1

Archers 2

Wolf Riders

Unit filler for my unit of Hand Weapon & Shield Halflings (with work in progress shot)

Hot Pots! (Catapults)

Fanatics

Giant

and finally my next project, The Sheep (squig) Herd and hero on giant rabbit (squig)

The hero on giant rabbit is nearly done now so when it is the pictures will go up. As always, c & c always welcome. Thanks for looking!

really like the idea behind this army, must cost a fortune to source all the hobbitses!

Thanks for all the comments!

I have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to bargain my way to a full halfling army. Ultimately if I wanted to do it from GW miniatures only it would cost a fortune, however I've found a few places that cast halflings and so I've gone to a few other suppliers as well. The sheep surprisingly cost me 50p each, which is great when you want a massive squig herd!

I've spent today working on the hand weapon and shield unit (bought a few more today as well, so they will eventually be 50 strong including the unit filler).

*Edit* The rabbits now done:

Well done, they really are cracking, any chance you are going to pop down the club with this army?

Very cool use of the Halfling Bloodbowlers, and great looking theme throughout. You must be having a lot of fun putting this army together. Very cool.
"Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to take us to victory, and wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father - Sanguinius holds it all." Horus

Veldemere: As soon as I get to 2000pts painted I'll bring it down to the club (lord knows how, especially the bloody tree!)

Angelus: I'm definitely having a lot of fun putting it together, work on it does go in fits and starts though.

Right now though I've definitely got the ball rolling with it! Over the last couple of days I've completed the unit of Hand Weapon and Shield halflings (well the models I have right now anyway). I've got 16 more to do before its a full unit. Below are some shots of the unit in Horde and in normal formation:

I must admit, I'm pleased with the results.  :)

Can we see a close up of the Rabbit Squig of Doom, I love it...
