Title: Tale of OG Gamers - relaunched
Post by: roland murat on June 05, 2014, 10:06:32 pm
As is traditional, with the release of a new edition of a major GW game comes the latest installment of a tale of OG Gamers.

This time its a bit different.

The idea is you can choose any army for any rule set - 40k, fantasy, bolt action, Malifaux, flames of war, whatever - then build a new army in 6 months. It needs to be done by the end of the year and be legal for the format you have chosen. To give people time to sign up, plan and write any introduction fluff June will be scheduled for that with painting to begin from July.

All you need to is post your efforts in the thread (or your own plog) at the end of each month. Best of luck.

With the relaunch of 40k it's time for me to update my 5th ed. Ultramarines.

I'll be looking at 200pts a monthly trying to bring the army into 7th Ed....

First unit on the table as we speak is a unit of 3 Centurions armed with Grav Amps and Hurricane Bolters..

...and I'll be putting together a swarm of hungry Tyranids with which I will eat said Ultramarines! :)

Going for 200 pts too, although I will probably start this weekend rather than waiting for July... Not sure what I'm starting with yet, but probably little gribblies before the big ones come later! ;)

I'll be craking on with my oft discussed, rarely touched Hail Ceaser yorkist army. 300 points for me so a couple of units a month using the small unit size (testing showed this to be more appropriate for  a 6x4 table)

Juist had a look - loads of models I've never heard of. Are they all on data slats or in a book?

Well I have a large chunk of Warriors of Chaos that I was planning to paint this year, as long as people don't mind me expanding an existing army. As no one wants to see me start a new army, no one.

Many thanks. By chance it turns out my planned painting pile is a legal, albeit appalling (even by my standards) army selection!!

Is it cheating to count a model you started ages ago, but haven't got round to finishing? Asking for a friend!

So here is my first offering for the relaunch...

3 Ultramarine Dev Centurians with Grav amps..

And having rediscovered my painting bug after a bit of a hiatus and with London Calling quiet literally calling I've got Kairos on the paint table... seems I'm joining the multiple project clan on this thread...   /\0

WOW you're keen! Good job - and glad you managed to use probably the most useful part of the Beastmen Battalion kit!

It takes me a couple of months to paint anything, even when I am motivated! (Slow coach)

Just so everyone knows... I'm not shirking my responsibilities and there has been semi-fevered painting going on on my part! I haven't had time to set up my project log or take any pics yet, but trust me, it's happening!!!

Month 1 is looking like it will be comfortably over points too...

I'll get involved with this, and will customarily (is that even a word...?! It is now) aim high, fall low and then probably fizzle. Sticking with my BAs and expanding the options when picking a force. Got some Jump Pack Honour Guard on the go, as well as a House Hawkshroud Knight oathsworn to my 2nd company.

Rumours of a new Codex before the end of the year imply a flurry of activity in the lead up to Christmas... especially if there are new Mephiston and Dante sculpts on the offing.

When do you want latest WIP pics up? End of July or now?

Just to check it's ok to start posting WIPs at the beginning of July, just make sure we save the finished models for the end of July? (As if I have anything to show at this point!).

WIP's fine, one thing that's has always killed these  things in the past is people posting all their stuff right at the start of the month, the time whack going all over the place, and slower painters getting demotivated...
I for one have not even finished unpacking yet, so need the whole of July to get my unit done...

Might as well get in on this too.
Just started 40k again after a long absence so need to get an army up to scratch.
1850 point space marine army....here we come.
Lots to add including Centurions, Sternguard and a Storm Raven
