Goblins and pumpkins

For the GT in October I have decided to make squig hoppers to accompany my goblins. Pumpkins are a persistent theme in my Goblin army so it seemed to make sense to replace the squigs with hopping Jack-o-lanterns. In keeping with the Halloweeny theme I am going to give the Goblins riding them scythes.

This was the proto-pumpkin a prototype version just to try out the idea. It's too small the real ones will be about twice the size and really fill the base.

These blobs-on-a-stick will form the basis of the 10 full size pumpkins. They're made of milliput coz I have more of it laying about than I do green stuff.

8 Full sized pumpkins, the stalks (for goblins to hang on to), leaves and tendrils (used for bouncing, of course) will be added later. The funny white stipples are there because I rolled them on some sand paper to give them some texture, might work.

Pumpkin riders or at least the first ones. The original idea was that they were riding them with wolf rider legs then the idea moved to them standing on top holding on to the stalk waving their weapons, all apart from one or two who are just hanging on for dear life. We'll see how we go with the others.

The idea of having one eating it's rider was too much to resist. :nightgob001:

Altogether

The guy in the background is a half painted pirate for my mordhime gang... provided the model he represents lasts that long.

Goblins attached to the pumpkins. I added one goblin emerging from a pumpkin and another just striking a pose but in general they look kinda what I was going for.

Right the join between the goblins and the pumpkins has been covered with leaves and the stalks have been green stuffed in place. The goblins with wolf rider legs needed to have their legs broken to get them on so I green stuffed some skirts on them (they are night goblins after all).

The brown pumpkin is the start of a possible paint scheme with light coming from inside (jack-o-lanterns after all) but light sources are something I have trouble painting so I may go bacK to the dark interior as per the proto-pumpkin.

Also only one has eyes yet... not sure how to go forward with this but I'll have a play and see where I get to.

Great idea for squig hoppers, it'll really fit nicely into your army.

Looking forward to seeing much more of your goblins online now!

At night he prances about like some sort of bearded West Country metalhead pixie, planting pink horrors in peoples' army cases and cackling while chanting his mantra, 'it's double sixes my love, take them off, just take them all off'

I based them so I can start using them in games but they will need re-basing once they are painted. I also splashed a bit of paint on them just to get the idea of where they are going.

Close up. They're not all going to be hovering in the air. I will make the bases separately and glue them on to the springy tendrils when I get around to them. I kinda like the idea that they will bob up and down a bit but we'll have to see how that works out.
I gave up on the inner light jack-o-lantern look, basically there is a real skill to do light source painting and I don't have it.

I may get to paint some more next weekend.
