Are everyone ok?
London's a big place. I heard some sirens, but no more than usual...
---
I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=51.605112,-0.197372
We got asked to leave the pub last night at about 9:30 as they were worried the riots were coming their way. Other than that all fine to my knowledge.
As far as I can tell unless you're a JD Sports or a Debenhams you'll probably be safe.
Lots of people on way home from work etc getting dragged into it.. as well as the poor sods who happen to live about some shops....

I also noticed that a Ladbrokes was being destroyed at every location as well. Apparently gambling is bad mmmkay.
I had some friends who didn't get much sleep last night but everyone I know seems to be fine.
all seems good atm, here's a map of places that went batshit mental last night:

the highlight so far has to be the Turkish community in Dalston uniting in the streets and chasing off the rioters!
Yay turkish people, can we rent them out to stand outside our house?

One positive thing to come out of this.
We came back off holiday yesterday and came via Clapham Junction, only to find out they started rioting exactly where we had been waiting for the bus outside Debenhams! Very scary.
When I left the Waaagh! on Sunday evening I saw more Police vans than I thought existed, the presence was massive, no trouble seen though.
However on the news I have now seen shops I passed on my drive north destroyed, its sad that so many people are waking up to find their business or their jobs have been destroyed overnight.
Mark
sirens all last night as seven sisters road is the main route from central london up towards hackney etc. Apart from the drama at the club not much to report from holloway: losts of shop keepers hanging about looking a bit worried but calm. At work today the general consensus is martial law/ vigilantism/ deporting them all to the isle of man
Totally overblown by Sky news , painted a picture that everyone in London was going to die.
I got texts from people from around the country thinking we were all dying...
However getting the train to gatwick from Clapham Junction at 5am this morning was a stressful moment as it looked like we were going to miss our flight due to the cordons etc....
In Sweden now, where the only thing that could riot is a stray moose.... :cool3:
So wait now.... you all missed a night of gaming?
This is serious stuff!!
prayers for you all!!
:cool3:
The staff of the pub panicked after having watched the news, the gangs in junction would have had quite a long walk to get to us...
twas a shame but their call after all, and all the pizza shops and spa's up the hill from the pub closed as well, such was the fear..
Riots in Putney! what ever next... :cool3:
Apparently some places in kingston tonight are closing early in case of riots there, heh.
Most of wimbledon closed at 4ish and earlsfield looks like a ghost town tonight!
the Old Kent Road closed earlier.
I wonder if the smell of burning is still in the air at east croydon station. It was very very noticable this morning.
Just read a tweet that 3 dudes were stabbed outside tooting broadway station earlier... Hmmmm, total lies. I have not seen a single person out on my road. I think people are being sensible and staying in so the police can deals with any c*nts that ruin it for everyone.
If they're anything like me, everyone's probably at home on the couch with some popcorn waiting for the show to start...
absolute f*ckers.
Went to swap some stuff at a GW that I bought ages ago and just havent got round to swapping and was told they couldnt do it without a recipt as it might be looted!
Does anyone know anyone who wants 2 unopened drop pods?! or who can swap them for me for something useful!
It got a little nervy last night with a fights in the High Street and a shop a couple of hundred yards from the house being turned over. Nothing a serious as Croyden though.

Where was that Mike?
I thoroughly recommend watching the reporting of the unrest on Press TV (Iranian news in English, one of my favourite channels) on Sky 915. The mass riots are a civil protest against the regimes brutality, armed police are killing protestors, the opressed poor are fighting against the wealthy upper class. All this to 1980s footage of broadwater farm, Northern Ireland etc, have a watch! :))
That channel sounds hilarious Ritchie! One of my favourite quotes reported by the BBC during the riot coverage:
"Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman has urged the UK government to avoid "harsh confrontation" and exercise restraint when dealing with demonstrators."
I'm not sure what the Iranians mean by restraint, perhaps their interpretation is only shooting protesters with semi rather than fully automatic weapons!

I think the Iranians have just discover irony, surely a cause for celebration?

Definitely - I couldn't decide if their spokesman was a comedy genius or completely mad! Guess they're not mutually exclusive (Eddie Izzard manages both quite well!).

We can sort that for you buddy
915 is a porn channel!!!!! did u mean 515? press tv

go here, regester, f*ck over the rioters by taking away their benifits when convicted.... we shouldn't pay for their arrest because they stole our stuff!!!!

Don't they then have to loot and burgle more to stay alive?
not if there rotting in prison they dont :spank: :decapitated: :hang: :batman:
There's obviously a reason why so many people feel the need to smash things up.....
I'm not condoning it, but it seems to have brought out crazy right wing daily mail ranting in the sane-est of my friends. I don't know enough about it to have a big debate....and can't really be arsed (net rage isn't good for anyone!)
but generally.... never has the "hang em and flog em" argument been a good one....
Some of the comments popping up on my facebook newsfeed have been making me a bit disgusted. Yeah it's knobbish, but it's also knobbish to suggest murder as a solution to political unrest.
Peace and love and butterflies and ghouls
Annie
PS Tom Hale if you post a picture of you dressed as batman in the midst of all the riots I'll send you a free dice bag!
Personally I'm more of the oppinion that they should bring back national service. I'd be more than happy to do it for a year if it ment sorting this sh*t out.
I do find it funny that I was brought up a hippy liberal, and yet my opinion on this kind of thing is very right wing!
Had said i recon if you break the law you've broken your social contract, and you don't deserve anything!
I don't agree with them being called benefits, gives the impression that they're entitled to this.
Social care should be for those who really cannot work for legitimate reasons, or those who are really trying hard to find a job, but just can't.
There are plenty of jobs going in london, it's just they involve things like cleaning which most people on benefits consider below them.
Rant over, please don't judge me on this, I'm never normally so right wing!
Problem is that everything is still too touchy feely in a society where there are mutated civil rights/liberties. The simple equation should be if you want liberties and freedoms, you have to be and act civilly.
Rubber bullets and baton/horse charges should have happened two days ago. None of this bullsh1t fear of being sued because the police are doing their job.
Shame really that their aren't any US warplanes nearby, because if there was ever a welcomed occasion of friendly fire, collateral damage, then this would be it. Totally unreliable :)
I do like the fact that in the US shooting looters, totally acceptable. And shooting armed people who are threatening police, again, completely accepted.
People do seem to be glossing over the fact that the guy the police shot was armed, and had a handgun, which is against the law in the uk, If he was threatening to shoot, you don't wait until he does before shooting, you make sure that he is safe, which may mean using lethal force.

Totally agree....
The two situations are totally separate though, but I do agree with the handgun issue. If you don't want to face even the smallest percentage chance of being shot by SO19, then don't effing carry a gun, simples :)
For too long now, hoody culture for want of a better tag line, has wrongfully enjoyed the luxury of intimidating people and causing no end of problems... with impunity. The government and public have been unwilling or unable to do anything about it, which has lead to this ridiculous display of hubris... but the scum have drawn the line now and the police should be wading in and beating them, literally senseless, and with equal impunity. That is after the police have utilised their very own version of "stand and shoot", whilst their cavalry rolled successfully for their Reserves and outflanked them... and I have absolutely no issue if a lot of them get trampled under hooves in the process. It's either that, or call Chuck Norris FTW - and that would be even more entertaining!!
Just give every policeman a brace of Tasers and the licence to use them at will during riots. Little risk of death but very good incapacitation rate

Boooo!! Taking all the fun out of extreme prejudice :)
...that would also ensure you miss out on The Sun leading with the headline, "PC gone mad" whilst showing an officer looking like a veritable whirlwind of double-baton reciprocity!
(...see what I did there ;) )

No, please not tazers.
They mean that people have to come to hospital to get the tag things removed, plus they invariably got shot at people with underlying heart conditions and end up flipping them into VT (otherwise known as not a good thing...) and mean we have to shock them back.
Very annoying.
Bullets are much simpler!

Out in Sutton. The local shop was the worst bit - one of plonkers that did it got nicked pretty much outside our front door.

Perhaps two looters, one cop?
Two looters, one cop = double perpetration.
leave it right there........

heh, didn't see much policeness in London yesterday, got back to Pontypridd this evening to find beefy security guards at the train station, as well as lining the local valleys trains. I asked if riots had spread up here but apparently it's bog standard for weekends in this area??? (Sanely, my weekends involve getting OUT of the valleys, so I've not witnessed this before) Ah glad to be home :endit:

hey guys, anyone know if anyone can help me out with these?
just had a look on the GW site, and they cost £20.50 each now...same price as an ironblaster/scraplauncher....and i now need 2 of those!
Maybe you could try reswapping at GW, they may be less jumpy about being looted now!
this is a good point, an i may well do that!
