Right, I meant to share this photo last week but lost it... so here it is my version of Pegasus Knights. For some reason I wasn't that keen on the GW one but these guys were what I came up with as an alternative.  Kathryn has kindly made mention of both Barbarella and Flash Gordon in relation to them... there are only so many types of bird men so meh!

They are on the right size bases for Pegasus knights (it's warhammer so a round base flying base would just be stupid. Besides I'm using all the ones that come my way for trees... long and dull story). I used a paper clip as I just couldn't see one of the flying base stems working with such slim models. So anyhow they use Empire Knight legs and Dark elf spearman legs (together), Dark elf spearman bodies with cold one knight arms, wood elf heads, Empire horse tails and of course Pegasus wings.  All scrounged.

As I often do I painted up one as a test model and it looked ok. Here it is with the others at a lesser stage of painting.

I've added some bits to the bases as otherwise they're just boring so a horse skeleton on one, a beastman skelly on the other and just a shield on the third.

Just a few more WIP shots

Some final shots of the models. I added a small standard to the end of one just so I can claim that the unit has one should I ever include it in the list.

The green of the static grass is a little too bright I think but too late to change it now.

So now I have some random flappy flappy things, Vengeance on... other flappy flappy things will be mine.

I'll see how stage two brets go once some e-bay bits arrive.

cool!  Is the rest of the Bret army going to be converted to any theme?

That was the idea but I'm still struggling with Centaur conversions (for the knights) using GW components. Current thinking is beastigor arms and chaos marauder horsemen heads. I will need to make a green stuff mould for the body  that I have already made. on which note: Lee can you let me have whatever is left of that 'milliput white' back on Thursday? If there isn't any, no problem, I'll just get more this lunch time.
My original hope was that'd have a 750pt force to take to the doubles but that ain't gona happen. I still want to make a couple of unit of them though and I can use them as pretty much anything mounted. Perhaps I'll have them ready for the revised bretonian book...

I'm not sure about the blue ink I'm using I think it's a bit overpowering... I'll have a look on the OG Games site for something better perhaps.

They're also magnetized using the ones from OG Games which are perfect for all sizes of base! (anyone would think that it was planned that way)

Mike

Richard how did you do your peg wings?

I was going to undercoat in dark grey, the drybrush lighter grey, pick out feathers with purple & blue ink then drybrush whiter.

I started with codex grey, a dry brushed of wolf grey, purple ink to define the lines of feathers and a watered down blue. Then I did a final dry brush of white. I then re applied another thin line of the blue ink.

I guess you could do as may inks and  coats of dry brushing as you like to get the effect you're looking for.
