105 looks right, AoBR being an out of print boxset is usually a pretty good guide to ignore it.

Yeah I thought so, for some reason I seem to remember looking at it once before and working out why it was right that it was 115 points. But now I can't see that logic again. So thought I best check with the community.

Like the beasts, unlike the GW ones the skin tone actually seems to work with the big hulking brutes.

Thanks very much. I see what Games Workshop were trying to do in emphasising the human heritage of the Beastmen by painting them in lighter flesh tones, but for me it just doesn't work. I like my Beasties brown like a Chocolate Labrador... ooo a chocolate minotaur - delicious!

Look at the models, now imagine them all boosted up on bits of wire flying through the sky, cut them off the bases and enjoy doing silly poses of models on the end of paperclips, then realise they're far too top heavy and glue a bunch of 2ps to the bottom of their bases so they don't always fall over... Err I mean, yeah they are quite cool.

I absolutely have not been flying them around my room imagining they are real. Honest.

100th update should be a load of tosh with a bit of rambling and possible a smidge of relevance... Same as usual then.

Same as usual, but probably longer I'm imagining. If that's even possible!

In the meantime why not get in touch, here's some things you could talk about:

A bit late to the party but here goes.

  • What points cost should my Dreadnought actually be?

105, go with the codex over the black reach booklet.

Quote from: cunningmatt on February 18, 2013, 08:21:04 am
  • What do you think of the Beastmen models?

They look good, very angry (HULK SMASH!)

Quote from: cunningmatt on February 18, 2013, 08:21:04 am
  • Who should be the next Pope?

Someone from the Catholic Church.

Quote from: cunningmatt on February 18, 2013, 08:21:04 am
  • Were Assault Marines a stupid choice?

No, they're not optimal but not stupid either. They do look good and I imagine will probably be fun to use in a laid back/non tourney game.

  • What should I be doing for the 100th update, other than giving up?

Well you painted all that dreadfleet stuff last year, why don't you do a battle report of it going through all the scenarios and talking about it on here.

Regarding your Space Marines, when you build the assault marine sergeant give him a powerfist, and since you have two assault marine kits you shouls have two powerfists, give the spare one to your next tactical squad sergeant from the battleforce when you build it.

Also since you're going to have 10 assault marines a Chaplin with jumpback might be a good idea. The Chaplin allows a unit he joins to re-roll failed rolls to hit in combat so useful for a large assault unit.

Phew, I only play laid back games - I cannot be serious. I own a plant called Sandra, I just can't be!

Hoping to have a game on Thursday so I can work out how the basic game works!! Deliberately left the Sergeant out for this month so I could have the experience of a couple of games to decide what I fancy equipping him with. Wasn't too worried about the plasma pistol as could always take them as a squad of 5 without if he proved to be foolish!

Very good idea, I used him to great effect when I was pushing codex marines around, only downside is the Chaplain is only Ap4 in CC, so avoid challenges against characters with AP3 weapons or fists...

Sounds like a good idea, need to work out who or what my other character will be!

Given the points cost of stuff I think nmarine armies only really need 1 HQ option.

For the cost of a second character you can get a dred, a handful of transports or a tank

But librarians are so cool. Plus because the fluff you get to paint their armour blue regardless of chapter so they'd stand out nicely from the ultramarines... Oh.
