I like moshing and jumping around like a lunatic. I've been so desperate before that I was seen head banging to Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz... more than once.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

I thought about you when I read this, Matt

Hi all,

I, perhaps, take too much of a perverse pleasure in this sort of news, but it has come to my attention that all unsold copies of Dreadfleet - at least in this part of the world - are to be removed from sale, collected and then destroyed. It appears the all-too-high-price point for this failure of a game has reached the level where GW knows they cannot sell any more and thus have decided to cut their losses. Space Hulk it was not, and when your main target is 8-12 years olds it turns out that nostalgia over Man'O'War, a game that doesn't even count as a 'Specialist Game' isn't a great selling point.

They did a similar thing after 4th came out, sending all the left over 3rd Ed boxes (and all those plastic Marines and Land Speeders) to landfill.

Make of it what you will, and, again, it may be a GWOZ only thing, but there you go. Anyone who is still craving a Dreadfleet fix might be able to find one in our scattered network of gaming stores (assuming you can find one of them), but otherwise Dreadfleet is leaving our shores, so to speak.

LULZ, Good work GW!
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Actually I think that's rather a shame,.... I know you'd expect me to love a good moan, but no!

I think if Dreadfleet has been the failure it seems to have been then we're very much less likely to get any non-core game releases from GW in the future. I've actually reallyenjoyed painting and assembling my first ship - more on that in the next few weeks.

I believe the quote is from Australia, although I know Dreadfleet came off the GW website last night, so not sure what that say - and Aus prices are much higher (in part due to that region's current unique economic circumstances). But I didn't think it was an horrendous price point £70 is broadly equivalent to what £40 was worth when I was 12, which is how much I'm sure similar sized games were then.

Anyway when people start seeing the Procrastinator is painting up his ships in the next few weeks more people will rush around the last remaining copies of this game?

Dave

I got mine, built them a while back and reboxed it all up to sit in a cupboard for ages.  Still not played a game yet.

It took me a while to get going, but I'm generally very slow on all projects! Not helped by splitting headache combined with road drilling outside. :(

Not only has Dreadfleet been removed from the Games Workshop website, but all the posts pertaining to it have also gone. Sounds like they are ashamed of their latest child.

Dont make Non Core-sets that have no heritage and no chance of any expansion, is a small point they should have learnt. So many other games they could have remade instead....

Matt, £70 is pretty much the absolute top end for high quality boardgames, look what you get for £50 in many top selling FFG boardgames, online expansions, 100's of figures, top quality componets, hours of gameplay, and hours and hours of playtesting..

NOT a game with a cloth board that snags, awful card components, only 10 ships and half a dozen missions, fate cards that ruin the game, a combat system that is pure chance and in no way down to skill, a wind system that is not play tested, a box that is not designed to carry the finished constructe ships, and no chance ever of an expansion.

I bought it purely because I liked the look of some of the ships and fancied painting them, but then again I did not pat full price for it...

True, though I fear they will do neither now. From a business point of view I can see the point of limited edition releases with no exapnsions. As once they're gone no warehouse/shop floor space and no further development costs - though in fairness this only works if they sell!!

Neither did I!  This is very good point, I am only comparing cost with what I bought as a child (in reference to the comment about 8-12 year olds) and not comparing with similar things on the market. And having not finished or played the game I probably shouldn't be commenting on it until I have a opinion built on fact and experience - but I like The Daily Mail am a very, very, very naughty boy!

Once we've had our trial game I can then slag it off appropriately! I am currently in rose-tinted spectacles land.
