Hey guys.

I'm trying to get interest in 40K drummed up at the club a bit more, and Seb and I were talking about maybe having a non-tournament type Saturday where everybody just gets three games, and we'll give a prize to whoever had the most fun, or something equally wishy-washy.

Is anybody interested in doing a day like this? We've got enough guys around the club who know the rules, so all of the guys with armies who haven't tried the new edition yet are welcome to give us a shout and we will give you some games beforehand.

Last week I was listening to the Overlords and came up with an idea for a great 3 game narrative. This could potentially be done on one day if we could start early (say 10am, like some of the old Planet Ogs). The structure for the day would be something like:

Round 1 would be a game or two of Killteam;
Round 2 would be a 1000 to 1250pt game of 40k;
Round 3 would be a large, multi-player 40k battle.

Any thoughts?

I really like that! It's a great way to try out all facets of the game, and big games are always a good way to end off a day.

10 - 11/11:30  Killteam 1 or 2 games

12:00 - 13:45 Medium 1250 point game

14:00 - 18/19:00 Big game. They always take a bit of time and setting up, and it's imperative that everybody can stay to finish it, or it ruins it for all involved.

That sound about right do you think?

A timescale something like that sounds good. You don't want to end up starting the big game too late.

To flesh the story out etc. may take a few weeks, but that sort of works seeing it looks like Seb will be going off radar for the next fortnight.

Perhaps we can discuss over a drink on Thursday or Saturday?

You won't be able to get in till 10am , so by the time everyone turns up, sets up gets their game players, that is optimistic.
Aim for 10-30 start and IMO drop the kill team element, not a chance in hell you will get a 1250 game done in 1 3/4 ..
You will the run out of time for the big game, or be there all night...
The big games always take twice as long as you think, combined toilet/smoke trips, getting drinks, setting up..

Aim for something like this

10am open
10:30-12:30 - 1250 pt games
12-30-1:00 - Lunch
1:00-2:00 - Big Game set up, dice rolling and generate farting about
2:00-6:00 - The Actual Game : this gives you 40 mins a turn, 20mins a side
6:00 - 7:00 - Roll over extra time

Their is an OG open day coming up soon, so prob best to aim to do this then, as there are not enough 40k players to fill the whole club at the moment..so this we get max value out of the room
