The jade amulet now reposed in a niche in our museum, and sometimes we burned strangely scented candles before it. We read much in Alhazred's Necronomicon about its properties, and about the relation of ghouls' souls to the objects it symbolized; and were disturbed by what we read.
    –H.P. Lovecraft, The Hound

QuoteFantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of The Unspeakable Pages, the fifth and penultimate Asylum Pack in the Revelations cycle for Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game!

Murder, madness, and terrible realities haunt the pages of the Necronomicon. As rival factions seek to make use of the different translations they have secured, the ignorant masses continue their mundane routines, blissfully unaware of the Ancient Ones, those who worship them in secret cults, and those who risk insanity in order to safeguard the world. While the key to the fate of the world may lie in the Necronomicon, the Revelations cycle moves toward its climactic finale as Cultists, Lunatics, and Investigators all delve into The Unspeakable Pages!

The secrets of life and death

They bend the forest and crush the city, yet may not forest or city behold the hand that smites. Kadath in the cold waste hath known Them, and what man knows Kadath? The ice desert of the South and the sunken isles of Ocean hold stones where Their seal is engraven, but who hath seen the deep frozen city or the sealed tower long garlanded with seaweed and barnacles? Great Cthulhu is Their cousin, yet can he spy Them only dimly.
    –Necronomicon

Four different versions of the Necronomicon appear in The Unspeakable Pages, each claimed by a different faction. Among these are three translations, including a translation composed by Owlswick (The Unspeakable Pages, 85), which uncovers secrets of death and destruction. The fourth and final version is the original, Al Azif (The Unspeakable Pages, 90), written in Arabic and hidden away in the libraries of Miskatonic University.

QuoteH.P. Lovecraft's fiction never fully reveals the contents of this dread Tome. Instead, he describes it more in terms of the impact it has upon its readers and alludes to it in contexts that make us aware of its archetypal evils. What then can we expect to find in a volume of such unspeakable knowledge that it can power untold devastation, such that wielders of the Owlswick translation can eradicate their lesser enemies? Can we learn enough of the Ancient Ones to guard ourselves against them? Presumably, this is the reason the most inquisitive individuals at Miskatonic University would dare open their minds to the madness of such a tome. But will the cost to drive back the Ancient Ones prove too high?
