The council are proud to present, the Tale of 6 Gamers 40K..

Each month, the 6 of us wil paint 250 points of our chosen 40K army, after the first 2 months we will then be playing games with our forces as they grow.
The first being doubles due to the armies only being 500pts each at that stage..

The forces will be in line with the Planet OG comp and the lists might change as the comp grows and changes..

The entrants and their chosen armies are..

Ol: Grey Knights
Stevo: Necrons
Gareth: Space Marines
Mark: Dark Eldar
Lee: Tyranids
JD: Necrons

We will put up piccies, reports, thoughts on the army etc , painting will start mid November...

I feel that the Necrons and Grey Knights have a substantial advantage in this...

Good Luck guys! I look forward to seeing all the drybrushed silver   :))
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Dave

easier than that.  Spray silver from a can, allow to dry badab black wash.  The only limiting factor is how quickly you can build them!

I can promise you know that my Knights will be very different from the norm...

@ Tom - Feel free to do your own PLOG for your guard buddy. But part of the point of this LOG is that we are all pretty much new players to 40K, so we will be learning the game as we paint the armies.

Steve H - Necrons - Pre Month 1 post

Pretty excited about this Tale of 6 OG HQ members for the following reasons:

1/. I think 40k really lends itself to the format... barring a few hordey armies the numbers of models per month is a lot more manageable than in fantasy. None of those months where you have to paint 100 Skaven slaves or such like! Reason Number 1 for choosing Necrons: High points cost = no mass painting!

2./ I actually really like 40k but have been in self-imposed absence for too-long... i find it doesnt need to be taken too seriously, and the missions in it really work, unlike in other games. Unfortunately im not very good at it so i need something thats pretty tough to kill, as my stuff will be dying a lot. Reason Number 2 for choosing Necrons: High toughness and gets back up when its dead = an alleviating factor for some of my crapness!

3./ I really like the 40k fluff and the bits of the new codex i've read so far are exceptional

4./ Reason number 3 for choosing Necrons: The models are really, really ace!

One thing is should clarify at this point... im pretty average at 40k and there is no motivation at all in this to come up with the best Necron army that money can buy. In fact, i'd have no idea what that would even look like. This is pretty much going to be the models that i like - with a little bit of common sense thrown in!

So, with shiny new model syndrome in my eyes i went into an actual GW (for the first time in years... had loads of crap to exchange). It was actually quite exciting, although more expensive than Olly hand delivering it into my hands at the club :(. So I picked up for my first batch of models for the tale:

- Necron Overlord (one of my favourite models in years)
- Necron Cryptek (because they seem cool as hell!)
- 1 Box of Necron Warriors (Common sense... boooooo!)
- 1 Ghost Ark/Doomsday Ark Kit (so, so pretty!)

Meaning my first 250 points for month one looks something like:

HQ - Necron Overlord; Phase Shifter and Warscythe = 145
Troops - 8 Necron Warriors = 104

Exciting huh!!!? No??? Oh well... month 2 should have some toys in i hope!!!
In the style of Tom Hale... F*ck Ushabti!!!

Looking forward to following this :)
"Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to take us to victory, and wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father - Sanguinius holds it all." Horus

Gareth – Ultramarine 4th Company - Pre Month 1 post

Just to reiterate Steve's comments I'm also excited about this Tale of 6 OG HQ members for the following reasons:

1./ Having played predominantly 40K prior to joining the club where I've been side tracked by the intricacies of WFB I'm really looking forward to breaking out my Space Smurf's again after two years in mothballs.

2./ As I'll be running a bike/scout themed list this will be a complete change to how I use to run my 4th edition lists which generally were mech heavy leading to a completely different play style for me to try out.

3./  As per point two with the type of army I'll be putting together 250pts a month equally a squad of bikes... Compared to the hordes of Empire state troops and the Gors I've been churning out this will almost feel like a break!

4./ Ultramarines were my first army way back when and I've always wanted to get a completed chapter built. With the 1st and the 2nd companies done this Blog gives me the opportunity to add one more company to the roster!

5./ What's cooler than an 8ft tall superhuman encased in the best armour and the best weaponry available in the Imperium .... One tearing around on a supercharged bike... that's what!!   :cool3:

6./ I'd actually planned to start this exact army a couple of years ago just before my gaming group all stop playing so I have the vast majority of model already available...
In addition given the small size of this force it gives me a great opportunity to convert most of the models...

So Month one for me is going to be the following :-

-   Space Marine Captain on Bike (to unlock Bikes as troops)
- 8 Bikers
-   Space Marine Attack Bike

Ok so those of you that have seen the Codex are probably going huh... 8 bikes with an attack bike is easily 250pts.....   And you'd be right.... But I figured assembling and painting 10 models in a month rather than nine is doable not to mention a vital part of the list....

So stay tuned for updates and more bikes that a hells angels convention.........

Lee – Hive Fleet Ga'Laan

I'm looking to use this Tale of 6 to finally get my space bugs all painted up! I'm going to be continuing my self-enforced theme of no guns, just combat stompy things (and a few psychic powers, shh!).  The army will end up as a hungry and angry mess no doubt, much like me after a night out!

The 250 points each month is a good target for me, as I'll be using my planned yellow and black colour scheme which is quite quick and simple. Based on Kiwi james's suggestion, I was tempted to call them Hive Fleet Pittsburgh, but I didn't feel right using a sports reference! E-cookie for guessing the reference for the hive fleet name I've used instead.

Also, as I'm going down the stompy all combat style, the list will have a lot of big buggers in, so they should help to fill the points quite quickly, with hormagants/stealers to round out the points each month.

My first month's painting is going to be the BMF himself, the Trygon Prime for 240 points (rounded out with two hormagaunts for 12 points).
