Ok if I were to build a modern deck is there a good website to guide me through what cards I might want to consider? With a million and one cards around just trying to work through the various options will be a total pain

This article is really good (don't buy the discard deck though... Jack has it!!!). I use Decked app on my iPhone for my card library needs - not sure if that's available on your device.

My phone doesnt support anything like that. Thanks for the link though.

I'm looking to brew up my own deck but the biggest challenge is finding a way to locate suitable cards

Brewing in modern is difficult because the card pool is so big, the best way is too decide on an archetype and colours and then build a deck from there using either the gatherer to search by keyword or any other card database you find, just make sure it's modern legal. Ull find that modern isnt that expensive if u go mono coloured and don't buy fetch and shock lands

That's the article I used, it has some really good ideas. I started off from the deck lists they suggested and then just evolved them a bit by changing a few cards gradually. Starting a deck from scratch would be more difficult in modern I think, because it might just be up being poo unless you've got a particular trick to it!

I've built a couple of decks from that article - the black discard deck which is incredibly good, the W/B token deck which is ok, and the really bad baby dragon deck!

I'm also really keen on trying the Shadowborn apostle deck - if anyone could possibly provide me with 24 copies of that card!!

I've had a bit of a play on the gatherer and came out with this

4 x virulent sliver
4 x venom sliver
2 x thorncaster sliver
2 x root sliver
4 predatory sliver
4 x muscle sliver
2 x battle sliver
2 x horned sliver
2 x belligerent sliver
4 blur sliver

4 x lightning strike
2 x fog
4 x shock

4 x temple of abandon
4 x copperline gorge
4 x kazandu refuge
4 mountain
4 forest

I don't want loads of colours but does it look usable?

Looks good... I have a stash of slivers that you might like for trade. Galerider and Manaweft slivers which I have going are good options.

I'm sure I've got a few too. Used to have a sliver deck, back in the day before modern even existed!

I'd takeout copper line gorge and replace them with 2 basics and 2 evolving wilds, your deck seems to not be very mana intensive and u want as many untapped lands as possible, and the deck thinning of evolving wilds can make a difference especially in multiplayer where games can go long, otherwise looks good

Also I'd probably replace lightning strike with lightning bolt (it's like 5 p)

Gill has a modern Sliver deck and its nails, especially when we play casual multiplayer

Guillaume

The problem with making a modern deck is that the better it is, the worse it does in multiplayer, so making a casual deck is often a better choice if your primary goal is for multiplayer

My Hammer deck and my spirit deck hold their own in single player and only get beaten by the very best decks..

In Multi player they are also rock hard the spirit deck is so hard to beat
