Any rules questions, card queries, post here and we shall get to the bottom of it....
We were wrong last night on the Valkaria card Ol....
It didnt 'have' to be played in my quest zone, same with dwarf Rune smith...
QuoteSome card effects are preceded by an italicized zone
name. (Kingdom, Quest, or Battlefield.) Such effects
are only active when the card is located in the specified
zone.
Example: The Runesmith has the text:
stupid boards...
Example The Runesmith has the text Quest. Action:
Spend 2 resources to have a target unit gain (hammer)
until the end of the turn. If Kris plays the Runesmith
in his quest zone, he will be able to use this effect.
If he plays the Runesmith in his kingdom or in his
battlefield, he will not be able to use this effect.
Aah that makes sense...
But some do simply say one zone only, like the Empire scouts...
Theres a debate on scouts on the FFG forum as well thats thrown up the query on scouts surviving combat if they didnt defend / attack.
Ruling seems to say that to 'survive' combat you have to participate in the combat as an attacker or defender. So you cant hold back your scouts, then make your opponent discard cards as they didnt actually participate in the combat. Just sat there and watched.
They've got to survive an actual combat... not the combat phase.

I agree, my scouts survive combat by attacking one of your zones that is undefended, hence in combat and surviving...lose a card please....
Yeah... sorry that was a 'FYI' having read the forum... it didnt happen in our game.
