Never been able to get into the Blues Brothers, always just looks like 2 fat men who are a little too old to be doing what they are doing and having more fun making a film than the viewer has watching it. Oh, and their voices are particularly ropey!!
BURN THE HERETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always had a soft spot for sweeping orchestral soundtracks & Bold theme tunes as opposed to just a bunch of songs used for dual promotion, examples; Lawrence of Arabia, The dambusters, James Bond (most of them), The Magnificent 7, The Godfather, Conan the Barbarian, Star Wars, Star Trek & anything by Ennio Morricone.

Although not a movie (yet) I also think Dr Who has had some stand-out scores.

As musicals go apart from the afore mentioned Blues Brothers I really liked "Streets of Fire" which bombed as a movie.

Ol, saw this and wondered if you knew...

'Zimmer began his career playing keyboards and synthesizers. He worked with The Buggles, a New Wave band formed in 1977. Zimmer can be seen briefly in The Buggles' music video for the 1979 song "Video Killed the Radio Star".'
Most important thing Hans Zimmer did was the main there for 'Going for Gold', legend

Some of my faves, avoiding the obvious ones (Gladiator, Braveheart etc)

To Kill A King composed by Richard G Mitchell

The Tudors by Trevor Morris

Once Upon a time in America by Ennio Morricone

The Da Vinci Code by Hans Zimmer (Track 13, is one of the finest pieces of orchestra ever IMO)

The Shawshank Redemption by Thomas Newman (played in my house far too many times to count)

Being Human by Michael Gibbs (virtually unknown Robin Williams movie, superb score)

And of course my all time favourite is Blade Runner....

It was only a matter of time before Ol came out with Blade Runner!

As 'collections of songs' soundtracks go, the Reservoir Dogs one is pretty good.

At night he prances about like some sort of bearded West Country metalhead pixie, planting pink horrors in peoples' army cases and cackling while chanting his mantra, 'it's double sixes my love, take them off, just take them all off'

Very sad to hear John Barry died last night, amongst the many fab bond scores, dances with wolves remains a classic movie score

Veldemere

True, he is a loss, Bond films show his versatility and Midnight Cowboy is hauntingly good

Currently listening to 'The Assination of Jesse James' by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis

Very laid back western inspired score with a haunting undertone....Really really good...
