loving the special caracters! if we get some consensus on their viability for the 8th rule set i can't see why we cant crack them out for a few games in the name of banter

they did have some 6th/7th Ed rules released which were about as official as the rest of Dogs of War:

Bah! New I'd get caught out somewhere around the 5th/6ht edition where I had a life and didn't play Warhammer!  :wink;m::

I should point out I have playtested my rules suggestion for the 8th edition over at least 500 games against a range of opponents and they weren't thrown together at the last minute at all. Honest.

Sunday 5th December

So this is usually the part of the week where I update you on my painting, life, milkshake drinking and other habits. Usually I write my documents on Word before pasting them in here in case the internet crashes, that's some behind the scenes gossip for you. Sadly however I had multiple documents open and in my confusion hit "No" in response to the question "Do you want to close this document without saving?" on this week's blog entry,  thus deleting a lengthly and highly amusing (if I do say so myself) description of this week's exploits. Bollocks and buggery.

I may write it again during the week, but it will never be as funny, my creative juices have been pissed up all the wall.  :bash;m:

So no blog entry today, you'll have to live with the knowledge that it would have been good had I not deleted it.

Monday 6th December - Forgotten Special Characters Advent Calendar

Sadly I've still not recovered from yesterday's deleting trauma, why isn't Word clever enough to know that when I clicked "No" I really meant "Yes"? I blame the person who invented the Overwrite function, why on earth would I want a button that allows me to slowly and almost without noticing type over all the other work I've written? When could this possibly be useful? And if it is useful for someone it shouldn't be just activated by hitting the Insert key which could be done accidentally. This key should be hidden behind glass or under a plastic flap like the nuclear button it's that dangerous – rant over (for now) it's Day 6 in "The Tale of OG Gamers - High Elves: Forgotten Special Characters Advent Calendar":

[spoiler]
December 6th: Lucrezzia Belladonna

Name: Lucrezzia Belladonna, Hireling Sorceress

Original Points Cost: 358 points

Background: Lucrezzia was married to the Prince of Pavona until he was killed by rival merchants, much like Heather Mills she was desperate to keep her fortune, so married a mercenary general and made him Prince of Pavona. Every time her current husband is about to make a mistake, they mysteriously die of poisoning and she marries a new general, after a duration Heat magazine would describe as "OMG", she's now on more husbands then Kerry Katona.

Original Appearance: Warhammer Armies: Dogs of War - 5th Edition

Clearly I own this book, I haven't taken a picture of the cover from the pages of White Dwarf 225:

Last Appearance: Warhammer Armies: Dogs of War – 5th Edition, though I believe rules for them may have been updated in the White Dwarf for 6th edition at some point, anyone able to shed any light?

Special Rules: Lucrezzia is a level 3 Battle Wizard riding a warhorse. Stunning Beauty: All fleeing friendly units within 6" automatically rally, ashamed to flee from such a beauty, I'd leave the bitch to die to be honest, but that's me! She has three poisonous items, not magic items as such: Phial of Poison – At the beginning of the game roll a D6 for each character on the enemy army, starting with the lowest points value, first to roll of a 1 they suffer 2 wounds with no save possible, if no 1s are rolled no one is poisoned. Poisoned Stiletto – Lucrezzia may use this in combat, but automatically strikes last, however all hits automatically wound (armour saves may still be taken). Potion of Pavona, before the battle nominate one friendly character D6 of their characteristics can be increased by 1 (up to a maximum of 10), however should you roll a 1 the characters suffers a wound and receives no benefit.

My Memories of the Character: Don't remember her, sorry. I almost had bailed on Warhammer at this point, and Dogs of War never really interested me, preferred the more classic armies fighting for state rather than cash.

Person(s) most Reminds Me Of: Rosa di Marco – mother of the axed Italian family in EastEnders

Inclusion in 8th Edition: You could. But no one in their right mind plays or paints with Dogs of War armies in 2010, so why bother?

I was going to suggest some DoW characters myself! I don't think there were any updates to 6th edition for the DoW special characters.

She could always be used in certain themed Empire lists!

There was an update for 6th in a White Dwarf, but I don't have them to hand to check. Biorgio, Lorenzo, Mydas, Hobgoblin Khan, and Lucrezza were all updated, (all the special characters that had models basically, Marco Colombo and Leonardo were ditched at this point.

Hmm, I don't remeber seeing that one, if you've got a copy, could you send a scan my way?

I think I may have a copy, I had a feeling when I was throwing this morning's advent calendar entry together (I promise it usually is planned months in advance) that I'd seen an update for these rules. I'll have a rummage at a convenient time.
