8th Edition

Could be out by summer, not happy about it being Empire and Orcs again, but they are big sellers after all

Not to drop a bomb or anything, but yes, 8th edition will be out next summer with a new boxed set in the fall. I have heard Empire vs Orcs in the box with a new O&G book out in Q1 2010. Plastic Empire Knights and Orc Boar boys will be in the new set Ive heard. They keep one upping themselves with the box sets so I would expect a mountain of amazing plastics in the new starter set.

Sounds about right. (Although opinions vary. )

Having seen concept sketches for the new Knights and Brians work on the new boars I am fairly excited about these.

Could be they will be the first army (Beasts) to take into account the 8th edition changes.

(I feel like the Skaven might have beat them to this).

So partial hits for starters will go...Making Stone throwers and Mortars now very good indeed

Yep that brings it in line with 40k. Dragons and Hydras will get a power boost if they apply it to all templates.

If Boxed set is Empire vs ORcs thats great for me as Boar Boyz are so expensive right now unless you do it kitbashing wise.

Well, Hydras do need a power boost as they are bit overcosted at the moment.

Well if Pit of Shades remains the same it'll help, as you'd most likely get three full hits on a Hydra and Handlers rather than a partial on each. Other template attacks barely care though, it's not hard to place a flame template to cover both Handlers, and then damaging the Hydra doesn't really matter. The big loser would be tightly-packed infantry. I'm sure there will be more than enough rules boosting them to make up for it though ;)

I felt that needed pointing out as im getting a bit sick of the 'Oh that'll help the DE / Daemons.. yay great job GW' [/sarcasm] posts that crop up.. well everywhere.  People need to get over their hatred for these books and look beyond them.

yes no partials will help the Dark Elves with their Hydras and Dragon.... But then again last time I checked almost every army had something with a flame template? And lets not forget all those armies with stone throwers etc. So actually it'll help every army equally!.  Hell it makes taking a death globe with skaven suddenly a usable option as in the past the scatter ment that it was always partials on big gribblies. 

It'll also mean an end to the old... 'erm... 5 full and...1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 erm.... maybe 9 partials?'

Mike, best get used to it. Been a couple of years now and there no sign of the endless complaints abating. I doubt 8th edition will do anything to change that, in the same way that you see people still blaming Gav Thorpe for everything.
