Well, here he comes!

So... 1000 points, all 6s and 7s for stats. Level 5, knows 9 spells from 5 Lores (including a new one, Undeath - looks like it's for summoning new units). Can throw 10 dice at a spell with some jiggery-pokery. Can re-roll Miscast results.

Edit: Looks like something called The Undead Legions are going to be a new Supplement as well.

TkaiC

So who fancies a 4000pt game then?  Or in other words...Apocalypse comes to Fantasy.

Not impressed with the model (looks like the Treeman with some skeleton bits and the tentacles from a Maulerfiend slapped on from that photo) but he's got some excellent rules.
On twitter @tomfeattom - I talk about my band, rock climbing, baking and am sometimes funny*.
*Funniness is subjective and in no way guaranteed.

Got to admit I'm really disappointed by the model. Tiny head, unnecessarily massive pope hat, plus someone told him to grow some backbone and he took them too literally. Also, this guy still thinks he's the rightful king of Khemri, he should look at least a little bit Nehekharan!

As usual with these big plastic models, though, I think the 'Eavy Metal colour scheme is making it look worse than it is... I'll be interested to see it in person, and without the bright He-Man colours. If there are multiple builds or conversion potential I may still buy it.

I hope Undead Legions are usable without the big guy. It'd be nice for undead players to be able to mix and match TK and VC, and it would inject more variety into the game without needing a new sheaf of units and special rules, which seems elegant to me.

underscore

Yeah, I gave up with the Evy Metal stuff a year or so ago - I can't remember the last time one of their models didn't look better in unpainted grey.

Apparently there's a few more special characters coming as well, hopefully on a bit more of a sensible points scale. I guess that the Undead stuff will be the Fantasy version of Daemonology with all the summoning powers and whatnot. 'They' say that the White Dwarf battle report has an entire TK Army against Nagash on his own, so who knows what they have planned for the rest of the release.

Pip

Could be Arkhan the Black or Heinrich Kemmler on the horizon then

underscore

Apparently it's Mannfred  / Arkhan / Neferata. Talks of flying chariots Nightghasts and all manner of things.

Pip

I also notice the rules mention "Morghasts" as some type of unit with a special rule that stacks with Nagash's. Looks like there might be some non-SC releases too.

Berimbolo

Awesome stuff, I quite like the model, be cool to do some Fluff Campaign with him in. TK might also get a boost, which would be cool (and quite possibly mean doing an Army of them).

katarr

If someone with the inclination to buy him and has a relevant army we could do a cool big game with them vs a big opp army controlled by multiple players was up for it we should definitely do this.

And more!

http://www.talkwargaming.com/2014/08/leaks-lots-of-undead-miniatures-coming.html?m=1

Nagash, Arkhan, Neferata... somewhere in Nagashizzarr there's a haberdashery making a killing.

Not a fan of Mannfred or the Morghasts (they look more like 40K figures to me), but the Spirit Host and Arkhan are ace. Think Neferata would look pretty cool with a headswap too.

Also, note from the previous link... Lore of Undeath available to all wizards.

Anyway, with regard to Nagash stuff for the club... I am a massive Nagash fanboy and have some undead in the attic. I'd be happy to organise some narrative Nagashitude - and if I could get some contribution from the club funds, I'd happily paint up a communal Nagash model.

Or I might just go all in and start a Legion of Nagash army <.<

Steve H

I have all of the worlds TK courtesy of Ol... I'd love to play a big fluff game around the big man himself!!!
In the style of Tom Hale... F*ck Ushabti!!!

Berimbolo

Yeah we'd have to get a big game going with the Mega Lord himself.

On those other minis....wtf, the first one what's that supposed to be? Looks awful, same goes with Neferata and her retarded looking steed, the Morghasts look garbage as well. The Wraiths look cool though.

fatolaf

wraiths look cool, agreed.
That big dragon mount, however,  is made up of the same bits as the TK Sphinxs and some Nid bits, another lazy big monster release......

underscore

I'm actually a fan of the big skull-cow thing.

But I suspect that's also because I have half an eye on it as an Exhalted Jugger-type conversion. All those skulls... wasted on the Undead. :'(

katarr

Nagash looks like Diablo in Diablo III a lot.  £65 for the guy, FU games workshop I will get a perfectly good knockoff thanks, what a joke.

Quite like a few of the models though for conversion purposes.

Berimbolo

Will have to see what the book is like, what annoys me the most about GW is that they are well behind the times on delivering Ebooks, I'd happily buy the book for my Nexus, however because they are only on iPad it's really frustrating, Android have 60/65% of the bloody market!

Trouble is that there really needs to be an Android equivilent to the fancy iPad publishing thing. I've got a few of the eBook releases GW have done and they're so much worse that the iPad versions they don't even compare. That's not even their fault or anything: eBooks are just bad at it and you really miss proper page formatting.

Pip

I agree about the skullcows... uninspired. Reckon you could make a pretty sick flying chariot for Arkhan with the current glut of plastic kits though.

Stuff is up for preorder on GW's site... and their pics of Nagash include a skelly for scale.

Suddenly £65 is seeming more reasonable - the books on his base are each the size of an infantryman!

EDIT: Have placed a pre-order for Nagash and the books. Reading the text of the description, it appears you don't need a 4,000pt army to play Nagash - "Armies of the End Times" can have up to 50% Lords!

Will be happy to share the books as we've done with T&T. If our Undead players want to pool together for a big bash some time then I'll bring him along.

Looks like I've got a new project!

katarr

OK fair enough that dude is massive, insanely so. Do you think they will release other guys for End Times shit like a chaosy dude uniting beastmen warriors and beastmen or something similar for the good guys like elves teaming up with other good races etc otherwise this specific ruleset seems a bit defunct

underscore

Yeah, there's going to be a series of 'End Times' books. There seems to be strong rumours that ET: Chaos (possibly even just Nurgle) and ET: Elves are going to be a thing, along with some Skaven character models, Nurgle Chosen and God knows what else.

Seems though the fluff is being well and truly George RR Martined. Here's a few of the reports coming out so far:

Quote(Apparently from WD.... this one's mostly for Pip  :wink;m:: )

the lizardmen are the oldest enemy of chaos, born to fight it's rising power. In warhammer : Nagash their greatest mage priest, lord mazdamundi , awakens and beholds the dire portents. He gives a single spoken command that will echo through the ages

Quote(From some Spanish guys who seem to have the book)
Valten is back (he can be fielded either as anonymous blacksmith's son with rags and two hammers, either as the Avatar of Sigmar with his full armor, barded warhorse and Ghal Maraz).
Crom the Conqueror also back.
As predicted, new armylist (basically TK + VC combined).
Nagash literally tore Settra apart.
Arkhan kills Eltharion when he tries to rescue the elf princess.
Thorek dies when he destroys some cave trying to slay Neferata.
Morgana (Fay Enchantress) dies too.
Balthazar Gelt becomes a Necromancer
Vlad is back. He helps Empire against Chaos and also against Walach Harkon (whom he slays).
Karl Franz ends up missing in action.
Luthor Harkon (the vampire pirate, he had his own rules and army in a WD like 10 years ago) joins Nagash in Khemri. Great battle before the city gates. Khalida beats Neferata but Neferata flees.
