OK, with only one game of RoR played this week it's clear that the enthusiasm for RoR isn't there. I'm going to count this as a fun experiment and move on.

The current RoR scenario will remain available until we can book a weekend for the grand finale. The troglodon is on the mantelpiece at the club and you can play as many RoR games as you want in the meantime - as long as you report them your winnings will be counted for the final battle. Note that the Quest scenario is not available as it turned out I didn't have the tiles!

The final battle will be a big multiplayer Lustria bash; as soon as there's a Waargh-less weekend I'll see about organising it.

Pip

So I'm still looking to organise a big battle to wrap this up in style. Would people be free this Saturday, and if not, what Saturday would people be free?

katarr

I am afraid I am not available to play it this weekend sorry pip

Pip

Since we didn't have enough people for last Saturday, would people be available for Saturday the 20th?

Pip

Thanks to everyone who turned up for the big finale this weekend. The precarious mercenary alliance managed to hold together long enough for Rob's Dwarf Lord to scurry away with the lion's share of the treasure, dismembering an Oldblood and about 30 Temple Guard in the process!

I'm definitely up for organising more narrative WFB events in future, and the End Times stuff is rich fodder for that kind of thing. My experience with this campaign has definitely been that RoR is too short to keep peoples' interest and get them down to the club, so we might be looking for a happy medium between your full-points 2K games like we had in King Ogbert's Crown and the skirmish games we had here. Perhaps 500pt/1k games?

Something else I'm thinking about is narrative weekends - GW does stuff like this, and there's no reason every Waargh has to be a tournament-format round robin. I have copies of a few of the old campaign books (Circle of Blood, Grudge of Drong) and it'd definitely be possible to take inspiration from them and organise a series of linked games, all on one day.

Anyway, I won't be able to start anything for a while (off to Japan on the 2nd, back around the 14th), but would be interested to hear peoples' opinions and suggestions.

Thanks for running this Pip.

I think a campaign weekend would be interesting. I've not done any of the GW ones so I'm not 100% how it would work - maybe someone could enlighten me?

I think weekend long narrative stuff sounds entertaining. Never done anything like it but it definitely piques my interest :-)
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

Ditto to the above comments - thanks for running Pip, and what you said sounds fun. Yeah found RoR a bit tricky to play for my liking!

I'm up for anything and everything in this vein. The further it is from 2400 Borehammer the better!
