Could be persuaded to give this a go ;-)

Great stuff guys... So I'm going to suggest the following!

- First try Monday 13th. Place up that you're interested in the booking thread for that day and we'll sort you out. It's likely that there will be too many people for one game, so I'd suggest we run 2 (space allowing!), with the second one kicking off when later people have arrived!

- 1000 point armies with the usual restrictions + 200 points of Mercenaries (basically anything from another book) - must contain a character to lead the Mercs (I think Mercs get -1LD... And watch out - they can be paid off by your opponents!

- Absolutely no comp. Bring what you like... But if you bring filth prepare for a 4/5 on 1 game and an early bus home I reckon!!! :D

I'm currently on my deathbed but I'll try to post up more accurate Merc rules later.

Cheers

I'd be up for trying this out. Not sure about the 13th but the 17th or others will prob be good for me.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

Does anyone coming to the Monday bash have any Empire models I could borrow for mercs? Am looking to use a mounted wizard + 5 Great Weapon knights. Can find reasonably close proxies at home if nobody's got them.

Steve H

I can lend you 5 lance Knights and a mounted warrior priest if that's close enough!?

Yes please! Still closer than any of the proxies I have

If this becomes a regular thing I may start painting some non-Lizzies for a change. Seems a fun excuse to paint up the models you like from other books without investing in a whole army.

Thats my exact plan... I'm putting together a Dark Elf army using the new models and this has given me a real spur to get my first unit painted - it's an excellent way to paint some fun things from any book you like!

Well I would consider our first test run of this to be pretty damn successful. I really enjoyed it and felt a breath of fresh air into a game I had stopped enjoying in anything but a campaign style.

The meta style of playing is excellent and it really does feel like any card played at the right time can be completely game changing and with four opponents good luck keeping a plan intact!

Would definitely be up for more of this in the future and a big saturday gaming day to try all the scenarios and have slightly bigger games with filthy merc allies. Strongly recommended.

How did you guys find the points worked out for a slot of play? I guess in practice it was the same as playing a 2400 game, but the table certainly seemed full of models!
