hmmm I wonder how big I can make an archer :D

My giant archer can see over those woods and that building because his really really tall :P

On a serious note, I quite like the TLOS rule in general but shooting the likes of an organ gun through the ranks of your own units I would have hoped there would be aspecial rule where on a roll of 1 or 2 your wounded your own troops or something. Ok maybe a cannon or bolt thrower people could shift because the trajectory of a cannon is pretty predictable. But a multi barrelled gun? I wouldn't want to be trying to dodge it  :moonwalker:

Conversely how small can you get away with now, how about the Cham skinks I saw at a gt where they were just swamp bases with a small head poking out brandishing a blow pipe, I can see it getting abused.

Anyone pulls that on me is getting the short response....

"dont be an arsehole.  You're models are Yay high even if they are just a head"
In the summer of 2011 he moved North... spreading the word of House OG.

I am Mike of House OG.  Ogger in the North.  And Ginger is coming.

Don't think of it as 'through', think of it as just over the top of their heads...   :pockeye:
If you look at the latest organ gun I'm pretty sure the barrels are above dwarf head height, so it's not quite as abusive as shooting a cannon between gaps in the ranks of troops but it's still a blatant mechanic abuse.  But given that through 7th people used skirmishers in the most unrealistic bent and gamey ways possible and it was accepted I'm assuming it will be wholeheartedly adopted.

If it helps I'd have been happy to model my dwarfs as kneeling, only they don't have any knees :))  :spank:

lol A good point, Hadn't noticed the Organ Gun model sat above dwarf head height.

My only point would be the randomness involved in the accuracy of such a weapon, but that may be more appropriate to say a ratling gun than the organ gun. Just because you aimed above their head/through their ranks I wouldn't expect a weapon like that to actually fire exactly where you wanted.

Had all of this with 40K and Tlos. It never really took off, in spite of the web predicting plague, doom and a pox on the game. Those that did have units of people laying down found it difficult to get a game (and not be mocked in tournaments), or any line of sight from the unit.

Has this (TLOS) encouraged mass ranks of infantry or simply for people to get even more guns into their armies?

I doubt it's had an effect on either. Prannies will always take mile instead of an inch.

Even if all games workshop games were evenly balanced, all rules perfect and all army books equal, people will find a way of making others piss spleen on the web. 'tis life.

I think it was there more to discourage negative play than to actually change army composition but it does reduce the efficiency of monsters to an extent (but balanced out by the removal of the +1 to hit for BS weapons).   just looking at artillery they tried to balance that by reducing the stonethrower S to 3, wounds to D6 only on a direct hit and armour save allowed.  Cannons have been reduced by making them blow up more easily (1 in 3 vs 1 in 6 misfires) but actually improve against ridden monsters due to hitting all parts.

Massed infantry is meant to be encouraged through various other changes and it remains to be seen whether the TLoS changes outweigh those benefits.

From the Incursion tournament it seems like the 'silly power' magic spells are still the real game deciders moreso than the shooting, so empire combining both makes them rather tasty.
