Just wondering what type of music you lot are into?

I'll list stuff I love:

Slayer
Ringworm
Morbid Angel
Entombed
all hardcore Punk
etc

and do any of you play in bands or anything?

fatolaf

Don't recognise a single one of those bands but then I am over 35... :cool3:

Classical I love, and a lot of modern classical, as in film scores, listen to Classic FM nearly every day

Also I love Hardcore Dance music (wierdly) and the more mainstream stuff, Chem Bros, Prodigy etc

BIG Pink Floyd fan, Police, Bowie, Jean Michel Jarre (just saw him at O2), all the 80's great bands basically..

Love classic Rock, Old G&R, Pearl Jam, Nirvana..

Really a bit of everything except for R&B, Rap, American Pop rock rubbish and any music produced by the X factor mob....(even though I like the show)

as any of the guys at the club will tell you, I'm into a lot of heavy music, primarily Iron Maiden!

also like:
AC/DC
Rage Against the Machine
GnR
Slash
Foo Fighters
Alice Cooper
Black Sabbath
Heaven and Hell
Pantera
Disturbed
Dream Theater
System of a Down

generally anything classic rock or heavier and anything else on Planet Rock radio!

Mostly Blues, Classical, Jazz and Opera for me. My family is mostly musicians so I have a pretty eclectic taste, but the favourites are always things that interest me musically. Blues wise anything with Harmonica (I play a bit), particularly Paul Butterfield, Sonny Terry, Adam Gussow, The Muddy Waters Band, James Cotton or either of the Sonny Boys. Also piano blues I adore. Classical mostly Cello (I play a lot), particularly Tortelier whose interpretation of anything he touches I love. Jazz generally anything though I prefer big band arrangements (Georgie Fame, some Van Morrison as mainstream examples) and vocal harmony like Manhattan Transfer.

I have just spent the last half hour or so listening to Slayer, and remembered how much I like their music (Though i have screwed up my speakers now!)

Apart from the normal repertoire of loud music (in the Iron Maiden &AC/DC vein) I am a secret Johnny cash Fan
Charge.  Flee.  Your Turn.

For fear of being shunned out of the club I probably shouldn't join this conversation - though I did see teen band The Wanted today, who were very nice people and I quite enjoyed their song.

I wonder how many others would have this in brackets too!

As for me,
Ac/dc, and lots of it.
Rather a lot of random crap too.
Have a bunch of compilation albums called punk goes...(then pop, classic rock, 80s etc) which are awesome.
My missus has just got into dub step...which I can't stand.

Other than the traditional 'only if they play their own instruments' genre,
Big film score fan, worked with hans zimmers apprentice at school so got hooked on the stuff.

Using the words 'Slayer' and 'well-known tracks' together is a bit optimistic isn't it Lee?

I've been a big fan since about '87 (had Reign in Blood on vinyl limited edition picture disc ), but other than people who actually like old-school Thrash, they're hardly popular ...  :))

Anyway, I'm into some fairly eclectic stuff. Somewhere between Lee and Ol. Loads of 80s pop stuff, New Romantics etc. Cure, Mission, Sisters of Mercy.

Also most genres / sub-genres of metal from New Wave metal like early Maiden / Saxon / Black Sab / Deep Purple, huge AC/DC fan (obv), some shameful 'rock' like Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, ooh also Bruce Hornsby. (Lee's grimacing now, I can tell). Have been known to listen to some fairly emo rock, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil etc. Also like a lot of the baggy jeans American crowd like Foo Fighters, Blink-182, Good Charlotte. Some industrial metal like NiN and Ministry.

Mainly though, metal-wise into the hardcore thrash and speed metal stuff. Megadeth, Metallica, Venom, Slayer obv, Anthrax, Sepultura, Dark Angel. The faster the better, really.
