Another top 5 list that has more than 5. 9 films there buddy, come on whittle them down...  :wink;m::

haha. Unfortunately I count those trilogys as one complete movie...so it counts

I will chip in with my top 5. Bottom 5 is impossible as there are far too many films I hated:

LOTR: Two Towers
The Matrix
Das Boot
Pulp Fiction
Terminator 2

Honorable mentions go to:

The Godafather
The Departed
Requiem for a Dream
Guardians of the Galaxy

300 is appearing in top fives but no sight of John Carpenters's The Thing. That makes me sad.

I think that is purely a generation thing, pardon the pun, plus the fact they went and remade it for no reason what so ever. The 80's now seem to be deemed old enough to plunder for remakes for the 16-25 US market who will never watch/read or listen to anything made before they were born...

The remake of Robocop so far has to be the biggest Turkey out of the 80's plunder, totally did not get the the concept of the original (ie the humour) and then making it totally non violent to lower the certificate..awful.

Tough question this. At a push I'd go for (in no particular order)

* Interview with the vampire
* Gettysburg
* The Imitation Game
* Gladiator
* Tora Tora Tora

I won't do bottom 5 as they have been so many shocking films but I would say I['m surprised at the mention of 300. As a film about the same thing '300 Spartans' is, in my view, far better.

That's the second time you called me an old duffer Ol!!! I agree with you on the remake thing, for the most part they are unnecessary and the new version is not very good. However, some are truly exceptional like John Carpenter's the Thing, or the recent Batman trilogy.

Top Five for me

John Carpenters The Thing
The Dark Knight
Blade Runner
Terminator 2
Downfall

Honourable mentions, the Terminator, the Watchmen, the World's End. Hot Fuzz, Empire Strikes Back, Spiderman (2002), the English Patient and Doctor Zhivago.

Bottom Five (one's I've seen)

World War Z
Man of Steel
Batman Forever
Batman and Robin
Spiderman 3

These films for me were both real let downs and just poorly made/corney. Dishonourable mention to Prometheus, X-Men Last Stand, 300, and  Terminator 3 and 4 which are jsut poor in comparison to the first two.

Top five:

Jurassic Park
The Man Who Would Be King
Doctor Strangelove
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (not necessarily an amazing film but it has PRETTY BOATS)
Up (although there are a lot of Pixar films you could put here).

Don't have a bottom five, have seen lots of execrable films but have never bothered to rank them.

A) Im much older than you Andy  -p

B) I meant that the average age of the voters in this forum is in their 20's, nothing to do with your age but theirs...
