Battle for Orks Drift
« on: March 10, 2010, 10:52:34 PM »
hi all,

I have been listening to a fantastic audio history of the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 by David Rattray, and have been majorly inspired by the events and personalities of the (im)famous Battles of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift

I was therefore wondering if any ork player(s) would like to do some 40k games, themed around these battles some time after easter when i can bring some of my Imperial Guard up to London, if anyone would like to do a couple of narative battles in homage to these battles

ive been scribbling down some senario idea, but before i go any further i was wondering if anybody would like to take up the challange
Demons are like West Germany in football in the old days. Boring, would not go away, nobody really likes them, and whatever you do, they still win. + stupid scenario + twats at the helm.

I can give you a game with my Orks if you like. There was an article in an old WD on this theme - not sure if I still have it mind

There was a fantastic battle report in White Dwarf 10+ years ago that replicated the battle of Rourke's Drift, with Guard with the old colonial style helmets, and painted in British army red, against hordes of Orks. Great idea. Would love to see some pics.

There was a huge scenario for WHFB about 20 years ago called blood bath at Orks Drift, I think it was in one of the old citadel compendiums. But I digress, sorry, your campaign...

wasn't bloodbath at orks drift one of the WHFB box sets like terror of the lichemaster?

also for 40k, have a look in the battle missions book for the space marine scenario "All Round Defence"
which could easily be used with IG vs Orks

Sounds like a great idea, there are enough Ork players around at the moment to make this a viable 2 table show game...

You mean the campaign packs? The Orc one was called the Idol of Gork. I still have it somewhere.

Tears of Isha (HE vs DE), Circle of Blood (Undead vs Brets) and I think Perilous Quest (Bret vs WE). There might have been a Dwarf one too but I forget the name. I'll have to dig the Orc one out, maybe play through it some time. Was a series of linked battles against an Empire army.

It would certainly be a visual spectacle and show a lot of toys.

I believe it was 'Grudge of Drong'

The 5th edition campaign packs were:
-Tears of Isha
-Idol of Gork
-Circle of Blood
-Grudge of Drong
-Perilous Quest

The older second edition sets were:
-Terror of the Lichemaster
-Bloodbath at Orcs' Drift (referring to Rorke's Drift)
-Tragedy of McDeath
-Blood on the Streets
