1500pt Bad Moonz

Looking at starting an Ork army so thought I'd post it for some critique. I'm hoping to have it tournament ready by April too.

I decided not to go for complete cheese (Nob bikers) and have a range of units, but still wanted it to have a chance of winning games.

HQ:

Comes to 1498 points with 107 models, tasty!



The idea is that the Big Mek joins the group of 19 Boyz, who along with the other 20 and the Deff Dread travel up the middle. Providing a 5+ cover to the Boyz and a 4+ to the Deff.

The 2 Trukks go round the edges and try to get into CC as soon as possible.

The 10 Lootas will deploy in cover and provide supporting fire at 48".

The Warboss will join the other Warbikers and charge for the enemy too, prioritizing one of their main units.

This leaves the Kommandos and Deffkoptas in reserve. Snikrot allows the Kommandos to enter from any board edge and the burna acts as a power fist. They'll come in from the enemies board edge and take out any tanks sitting there. The Deffkoptas will outflank and try to hit an infantry unit.

I've read you shouldn't mix ground and speed together, but I think it should work, and with 5 troop choices I should be able to hit alot of Objectives.

Let me know what you think, should hopefully have the army up soon to playtest!

If you fancy a real challenge, put yourself up for the 'challenge of Og gamers' and not only have a spur to prick the sides of your intent (sorry WS) but also entertain us all with your progress.

Burnas's act as Power Weapons (Ignore A/s) and hit in I order so a bit better, although needing a higher roll to wound.

5 Kommandoz is a bit small I find as they can get shot to pieces fairly easy and with Snikrot with them I would take a least ten of them with 2-3 burnas.

Apart from that it is all good. Red Paint Job on Trukks is good if you can get it as it adds an extra 1" move to your trukks and thats the difference half the time.

Deffkoptas, what do you intend to do with them? Apart from your Lootas and Power Klaws you have no real anti-tank / monster capabilities. I normally take Twin -Linked Rokkits, as with the extra scout move you can easily get into the flank of tanks turn 1.


Apart from that sounds good

And yes you should paint them as part of the tale of OG painters...

Ah misread that in the codex, which dents my anti tank prowess. However Snikrot has 6 S6 hits on the charge, so hopefully should be able to do some damage against rear armour with the other 5 glancing it to death on S5.

I can't find where to take points from to get more Kommandos, and thought 5 should suffice in taking down at least 1 tank or infantry unit.

Admittedely the deffkoptas don't have a role. Apart from loving the model, they're there to pose a threat to the sides of the boards and aid where the battle is needed. Either joining a group in CC or providing a load of fire against infantry.

I was hoping the Power Klaws and Lootas would be fine for tanks, i'll have a play around to see if I can get some rokkits on the deffkoptas.

Well the Lootas and Power Klaws should be enough. Best thing is to play around with the list and see how it gets on. Deffkoptas with Rokkit Launchas are expensive but have been good so far. The only thing with Snikrot is that the unit being only 5 strong means that if they take 2-3 casualties they will be taking a moral check.

Deffkoptas are a great fire magnet whilst the rest of your force advances, and with a 3+cover save on the turbo boost they can survive a fair amount of fire. Good to see bosspoles in your list, those bikers don't want to be running away too quickly!
